Arsenal produced their second win of the UEFA Champions League league phase with their victory over Olympiacos. A tighter affair than most expected certainly.
Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners the lead after Viktor Gyokeres showed great strength before his effort hit the past, although the ball was thankfully tapped in by his teammate. The Swede then wasted several chances that he should have put away to give the Gunners a cushion, as did Leandro Trossard.
The visitors thought they had scored when Ayoub El Kaabi tapped it from close range after another David Raya save, but he was in an offside position. The nerves were settled in injury time as Bukayo Saka fired low to claim the victory.

Here is how football.london rated the performances of the Arsenal players:
David Raya – An amazing save from David Raya inside 20 minutes from Daniel Podence, whose volley seemed destined for the top right corner. Was responsible for the clean sheet beyond all doubt. 8
Ben White – Great sliding tackle on Gelson Martins to prevent a chance early in the second half. This was the second of two penalty box interceptions throughout a solid display. 7
William Saliba – Was beaten for strength as Olympiacos found a way through the Arsenal defence for a headed chance. But again, was typically strong overall and repelled pretty much everything that was thrown at him. 7
Gabriel – Gave the ball away loosely just before half-time, which nearly led to a chance for Podence. Overall, had a solid game, clearances and distribution improved. 7
Myles Lewis-Skelly – Great cross inside the opening minutes to produce the chance for Martinelli. Strong in the challenges and great at weaving through opposition players. 7
Martin Zubimendi – With so much summer business having happened, there was always the chance the presence of Zubimendi would be lost amongst the fireworks. But again here he showed why he has arguably been the best of the summer additions of the lot. 7
Mikel Merino – Every time he plays, there is just a sense that the Spaniard belongs in this Arsenal side, but for underappreciated reasons. Not the quickest player, but finds himself all over the pitch, chipping in defensively and with cute passes forward, helping build-up. 7
Martin Odegaard – Great pass through to Viktor Gyokeres for the opening goal. Then found the Swede again with a through ball which he should have done much better with. Then produced the pass which set up Bukayo Saka for the goal. 8
Gabriel Martinelli – Had a great chance early on to put the Gunners in the lead with a header from close range, but the ball struck his shoulder and went wide. He was in the right place at the right time to tap in after Gyokeres’ deflected shot hit the post. Had a great chance late on that was saved and blocked brilliantly. 8
Leandro Trossard – Chance toward the end of the first half, fired over first-time following some nice passes in tight spaces. Had a great chance to score on the 53rd minute, played in on the left, his first-time shot went well wide, and then saw a shot which beat the keeper, but was then blocked by Lorenzo Pirola. 7
Viktor Gyokeres – Was unlucky not to open the scoring but latched onto Odegaard’s pass brilliantly, using his strength before hitting the post, rebounding to the Brazilian. Spurned a great chance when he looked through on goal but hit high over the bar. His movement and runs, however, were very good and bode well. 7
Substitutes:Declan Rice – Booked for a bad tackle as the midfielder entered the fray in the second half. 6
Jurrien Timber – Had a great moment where he recovered after losing the ball in his own half to produce a great tackle and get back possession. 6
Eberechi Eze – Brilliant pass across field to Bukayo Saka started a move that led to the Odegaard miss. 6
Bukayo Saka – Produced the cut-back for Odegaard that should have led to a goal. Then scored at the death, rifling the ball between the keeper's legs. 7
Cristhian Mosquera – Replacing Gabriel after the Brazilian collided with Raya. n/a
