Can Muslim women take alimony after divorce?

In the year 2024, the Supreme Court gave a decision for this. In which Muslim women were also ordered to be given alimony after divorce. According to the court order, under Section 125 of the CrPC, Muslim women have the right to get alimony after divorce from their former husband. Section 125 of the CrPC applies equally to all religions.
If the husband refuses to pay alimony?
If the court has ordered the husband of a Muslim woman to pay alimony after divorce under Section 125 of the CrPC. But despite the court order, the husband does not pay alimony. Then in such a case it will be considered a crime. For which the court can send the husband to jail.
Alimony is also available under Muslim law
Let us tell you that if a woman is married according to Muslim law. And she is divorced with her husband. So, under the Muslim marriage law, she is given alimony during the period of Iddat. Generally, the period of Iddat is up to 3 months. However, if a woman is not financially capable of bearing her expenses, then the period of alimony can be extended. In such a case, Section 125 of CrPC can be applicable.
