According to the Vedic calendar, Chaitra Purnima will be observed on April 12, 2025, and with its conclusion, the holy month of Vaishakh will commence. Vaishakh is considered one of the most spiritually significant months in Hinduism, with a strong emphasis on worship, charity, and virtuous living. This month is especially devoted to Lord Vishnu, and it is believed that performing sacred rituals and acts of donation during this time brings prosperity, good health, and success in personal and professional life.
Start Date of Vaishakh Month 2025As per the Vedic Panchang, the Krishna Paksha Pratipada of the Vaishakh month will begin on April 12 at 5:52 AM and conclude on April 14 at 8:25 AM. Accordingly, Vaishakh month will officially begin on April 13, 2025.
Acts of Charity for Wealth and AbundanceDuring Vaishakh, devotees are encouraged to worship Lord Vishnu with devotion and offer donations as per their capacity. Offering food, water, clothes, and money to the needy or temples holds great spiritual merit during this month. It is believed that such acts eliminate scarcity and open up opportunities for financial gain and overall prosperity.
Pleasing Lord Shiva in VaishakhVaishakh is also considered auspicious for gaining the blessings of Lord Shiva. On Mondays, devotees should bathe early and perform a Rudrabhishek a sacred ritual dedicated to Shiva. Offerings of kheer (sweet rice), fruits, and other sattvic items are made as a part of the worship. It is believed that sincere worship during this month brings divine grace and removes planetary obstacles.
Practices to Avoid During Vaishakh- To maintain the sanctity of the month, certain behaviors should be avoided:
- Avoid consuming tamasic (heavy or non-vegetarian) food.
- Do not engage in arguments or harbor negative thoughts about others.
- Refrain from wearing black clothing during worship.
- Keep your home clean, as deities are believed to reside in tidy and sacred spaces.

शान्ताकारम् भुजगशयनम् पद्मनाभम् सुरेशम्
विश्वाधारम् गगनसदृशम् मेघवर्णम् शुभाङ्गम्।
लक्ष्मीकान्तम् कमलनयनम् योगिभिर्ध्यानगम्यम्
वन्दे विष्णुम् भवभयहरम् सर्वलोकैकनाथम्॥
