BluSmart, the electric ride-hailing service has unexpectedly halted cab bookings across major cities including Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, leaving several commuters in a fix.
Although the BluSmart app is still available for download, users are currently unable to book rides, with all time slots marked as unavailable.
The abrupt discontinuation of services has left many customers in a lurch, particularly those who had pre-loaded money into the Blu Wallet for fare payments. With the service no longer operational, these users are finding it difficult to retrieve their funds.
This sudden suspension comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regarding Gensol Engineering, the financial backer of BluSmart, over allegations of fund misappropriation.
How to claim your refund from BluSmart wallet
Customers looking to claim refunds from their Blu Wallet can follow these steps:
1. Open the BluSmart app on your smartphone.
2. Tap the menu icon located in the top-left corner and navigate to the Help section.
3. Select ‘Blu Wallet’ from the list of help topics.
4. Scroll down to the ‘Does this resolve your issue?’ tab and tap the thumb-down icon.
5. This will enable you to contact BluSmart’s support team and request a refund.
Once the refund request is processed, the amount should be credited back to the original payment method within 5 to 7 working days.
The Economic Times (Online) team recently attempted to process a refund and confirmed that a representative assured them of refund being initiated.
Following this conversation, an official email from BluSmart was received, confirming the temporary suspension of services and stating that refund processing will be initiated soon.
As for BluSmart's future, it remains uncertain. There are reports suggesting that the company may pivot away from the ride-hailing business and instead focus on becoming a fleet partner for Uber. Additionally, Delhi International Airport has issued an advisory to passengers confirming that BluSmart has temporarily suspended operations at the airport.
