Suved Parkar’s second ton in the Jwala Singh Foundation & MCC organised 10th Mitsui Shoji T20 Cricket League against Ghatkopar Jets, put Shivaji Park Warriors on top of the table. Shivaji Park Warriors who chose to bat first against Ghatkopar Jets in the last league match scored 230/3 in 20 overs. Parkar (who scored a ton in last match) along with Varun Lavande attacked Ghatkopar Jets bowling from the word go. They put together 100 runs in just 46 balls with nine fours and six sixes.
Lavande made 34 in 20 balls with three fours and two sixes. Suved then added another 71 runs for the second wicket with left hander Agni Chopra (26). Parkar completed his second ton in 56 balls and finished on 118 runs in 62 balls with 11 fours and eight sixes. Jayesh Pokhre with 30 not out put their teams total to 230/3. Sylvester D’souza removed both the openers finishing on 56 for 2 wickets.
In reply, Ghatkopar Jets could manage to score 199/9 in 20 overs. Their batsman tried to accelerate the score but in the process got perished cheaply. Siddhant Akre (40) and Aryan Patni (33) hit some big shots but could not win the game. Mumbai’s Senior Selection Committee Chairman Sanjay Patil was watching this game and gave the man of the match award to Suved Parkar. He also talked with the players from both the teams after the match.
After the primary league Shivaji Park Warriors & Mumbai Police City Riders finished on six points each. But due to better net run rate Shivaji Park Warriors ((0.792) went on top and Mumbai Police (0.594) were at second place. Thane Marathas (1.110) with four points at third place. Ghatkopar Jets & Bandra Heros both have two points but due to better net run rate Ghatkopar Jets (-0.595) were fourth and Bandra Heros (-1.645) remain at fifth place. First four teams in the table will be qualified for the Super League to be played at Mumbai Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive from 22nd April. Top two teams of the super league will play in the final match on 30th April at Police Gymkhana.
