Following the demolition of unauthorized structures and the reclamation of nearly eight acres of land in Juhu by MHADA, local BJP MLA Ameet Satam has written to MHADA seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to develop a district-level open-to-sky facility on the reclaimed ground that would benefit citizens and youngsters in the area and across Mumbai.
In February, the Mumbai unit of MHADA reclaimed the eight-acre Juhu plot from a builder after 20 years. The builder had illegally annexed the plot to the SRA scheme by showing false hutments and submitting forged documents. The plot is located in a prime locality in Juhu, opposite Ritambhara College.
In his letter to MHADA, MLA Ameet Satam requested an NOC for developing a district-level open-to-sky sports facility on the plot. “After all the legal hassles are cleared by the court, kindly grant the NOC to develop a district-level open-to-sky sports facility on the land for the benefit of citizens, in accordance with the DP reservations and remarks,” stated Satam.
The 31,000 sq. meters of land that MHADA has recently taken possession is reserved as open space as well as road in the DP remark.
