Mumbai: Maharashtra Maritime Board has been instructed to fully utilize the allocated funds and implement planned programs to increase revenue. These directives were given by Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane.
The review meeting regarding the board’s planning was held today at the Maharashtra Maritime Board office, where Minister Rane addressed the attendees. The meeting was attended by the Executive Officer P. Pradeep, Administrative Officer Pradeep Badiye, and other board officials.
To ensure efficient revenue collection, Minister Rane emphasized the need for a systematic program to recover overdue port usage fees. He stated that if merely sending notices to defaulters does not yield results, appropriate further action should be taken.
He also suggested improving revenue through advertisement hoardings and revising rental charges. Additionally, Rane stressed the importance of maximizing fund utilization to justify higher budget requests in the future.
Minister Rane also pointed out that the board should address the challenges faced by port operators. He suggested organizing a meeting to understand their difficulties and maintaining consistency in fee structures. During the meeting, discussions were held on dredging ports, enhancing port capacity, and ensuring full utilization of port facilities.
