A 32-year-old woman has alleged that the Dahisar police locked her inside her flat during a dispute involving her relatives and refused to register a case related to a property matter. The police, however, have denied all her allegations, stating that the issue is a civil dispute.
The woman, a resident of Dahisar West, recorded a video in which she claimed, “Police officer Ramesh Pote filed a false case against my husband and kept him in custody for an entire day. The police helped two boys who locked me inside my house. They threatened to rape and kill me. I complained to the police, but no action was taken. Officer Pote took Rs50,000 to release my husband. Meanwhile, I was locked inside the house with my two children. The police have not listened to me.”
Her lawyer, advocate Nitin Satpute, added, “The police locked her in her flat. There is a property dispute between her and her relatives. A woman from the family filed a false molestation case against the victim’s husband. The relative’s advocate even threatened the woman inside the police station, but they did not act. The woman later attempted suicide by consuming poison on Saturday. Still, the police refused to register a case, claiming it was a civil matter.”
Denying the allegations, Pote said, “When the woman was taken to the hospital, women police personnel accompanied her children in an auto. Therefore, the allegation of kidnapping her children is false. We did not lock her.”
According to advocate Satpute, the disputed property belonged to the victim’s husband’s maternal grandmother, who had given the flat to the woman’s husband through an MoU. However, the 85-year-old grandmother later demanded the property back and allegedly broke open the gate, entered the house, and filed a false molestation case against the victim's husband.
