In a shocking and disturbing incident from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a woman has accused a sub-inspector of sexual harassment and misconduct. The woman claims that after seeking the police's help to find her missing husband, she was subjected to unwanted sexual advances by the inspector, instead of receiving assistance.
Allegations Against the Sub-InspectorThe woman, a 30-year-old resident of Harduaganj, reported that her husband, Raju, went missing after running away with his girlfriend, Sundari, on January 26. Despite filing a missing person report at the Harduaganj police station, the woman alleges that Inspector Dinesh took advantage of her vulnerable situation.
Rather than assisting in the investigation, she says the inspector sent her obscene voice messages and links to explicit videos on her WhatsApp. He also allegedly pressured her, saying that he would help her only if she engaged in a sexual relationship with him. In one of the recordings, the inspector is reportedly heard saying, "Once you have a relationship with me, I will help you completely."
The woman confided in a female constable living in her neighborhood about the sub-inspector's actions. Upon hearing this, Inspector Dinesh allegedly arrived at her home with other police officers, where he continued to threaten and harass her.
The Woman’s Background and the IncidentThe woman’s story took a complicated turn when it was revealed that she had separated from her first husband, Rakesh, at the age of 15. She later remarried Raju, a man she had a love affair with, and they lived together in Delhi for eight years, with two children. However, she discovered that Raju had an illicit relationship with Sundari, and following this, she returned to her mother's house with her children.
The Police InvestigationFollowing the serious allegations against the sub-inspector, the police department launched an investigation. The senior officials took swift action, appointing CO Atrauli Srijana Singh to oversee the investigation. The police have since begun probing the allegations, and the matter has caused a stir within the department.
This case raises significant concerns about the abuse of power and trust, especially in situations where the victim seeks help from law enforcement, only to be met with exploitation instead of assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to take appropriate action based on the findings.
