Ceasefire: Giving information about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that talks were held between the DGMOs of both countries on Saturday. It was decided in the meeting that ceasefire will be implemented between the two countries from 5 pm today. After this, both countries will stop attacking each other from land, water and air.
Taking an important step towards reducing tension between India and Pakistan, both countries have agreed on ceasefire. This has been confirmed by former US President Donald Trump himself. He shared the information about this decision on his social media platform 'Truth Social' on Saturday. Trump said that during the last 48 hours, he and Vice President J.D. Vance directly communicated with the top leadership of India and Pakistan, after which this ceasefire agreement became possible.
On behalf of India, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told in the press briefing that India and Pakistan have agreed to stop firing in the border areas and this ceasefire has come into effect with immediate effect.
What is ceasefire?
Ceasefire means “to stop firing”. It can be a temporary or permanent agreement, in which two or more parties decide that they will no longer attack each other. Internationally, ceasefire is also known as truce. It usually applies when the conflicting parties want to find a solution through mutual dialogue or want to reduce tension with the mediation of a third country or institution.
There is often tension between India and Pakistan on the LOC (Line of Control), where incidents of firing and infiltration are common. The first formal ceasefire agreement was signed between the two countries in 2003, but it has been violated from time to time. The recent ceasefire is being considered important because the role of a global power like America has been clearly revealed in it. This agreement not only raises the hope of restoring peace between the two countries, but also gives relief to millions of citizens living in the border areas. Now it remains to be seen how permanent this ceasefire proves to be.
