Big Brother's AJ Odudu slams 'disappointing' housemates ahead of new series

Send Push

The Big Brother house will be opening its door to a new batch of hopeful housemates this Sunday - and AJ Odudu and Will Best have revealed who they're hoping will enter the house. Spoiler alert - those who plan to 'coast' need to stay away.

This year is set to be a big one as Big Brother will be celebrating 25 years since the first series started in 2000. The show has been through a whole load of changes since, and in 2023, was revived by ITV after five years of being off air.

On Sunday, AJ and Will will be kicking off the third civilian series on ITV, and although they don't know who's entering the house yet, they know exactly who they do and don't want to enter.

Describing their ideal housemates to the Mirror and other press, Will said: "You want somebody who is going to go in there with strongly held convictions, and maybe you see them change some of those ideas and convictions before your very eyes.

"I like it when you have people like Daze and Nathan, who go in there saying they hate people from the other end of the political spectrum, and then they end up being best mates with them. That's always nice to see."

However, there's one type of housemate that AJ definitely doesn't want to see in the famous house. "I always am disappointed by the housemates who feel like they're coasting through. I'm like, 'Let's go! You're in there, it's a once in a life time opportunity, give it some socks!'"

On what she'd like to see this year, AJ also added: "I want to see authenticity. I want people to go in there and be their authentic selves from day one.

"We never know what to expect and that’s the exciting thing about it. I actually am going into it with no expectations other than I want to see a diverse group of Housemates."

With the 25th anniversary, Big Brother is set to bring in a whole lot of twists. Asked on which previous housemates they'd want to return to the house should that be one of the big twists, AJ exclaimed: "Nadia, bring her back! Also Victor! Slick Vic!

"What I loved about Victor, is that he would bring the audience in on his game playing antics. Fair play!" Ready for the drama, AJ would also love to see Makosi and Anthony back in the housetogether.

The pair caused chaos during the 2005 series of the show, when they got drunk, and incredibly frisky, in the infamous garden hot tub.

"All Anthony and Makosi need is a hot tub, and we know just the place for that!" she laughed.

Big Brother returns Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
