Zara McDermott has admitted the difficulty she faced while filming for her new BBC documentary series. The presenter, 28, is the face of The Dark Side of Paradise, but confessed she doesn't feel like a "natural" in front of the camera.
In the new series, Zara and her camera crew take a look at life in Thailand, from backpackers to those who are seeking longer term roots. Along the way, secrets are unearthed as the team discovers what happens when the dream of paradise goes wrong.
And while fans were quick to praise Zara's actions in the eye-opening documentary, she admitted she has had to discover herself as the role went on. Taking part in a Q&A on Instagram, the former Love Island star was asked what her favourite part of the production on such a show is.

She revealed: "Development or producing for sure!!! I genuinely don't think I'm a natural in front of the camera (well, I definitely wasn't to start with).
"It's something I've had to learn and my confidence has grown through the years. Because I work in the factual space I would say that producing is a big part of my job on the ground."
Zara did confirm she also loved presenting, though, as she said she think she acts as "a vessel for people to tell their stories". She says it's "not about me it's about them, which is a key part of why I love what I do so much".
She also admitted to her fans that she believes she has grown since first getting in front of a camera, both as a person and as a presenter. "I can say, whole heartedly, when someone shares an emotional story or experience with me, I truly FEEL it.
"I actually feel those emotions with them," she added as she admitted she is growing more emotionally aware of others as she gets older. It comes as she continues to grow into her relationship with former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
It was claimed last month that the duo have moved in together in their latest romantic milestone. While their coupling had been speculated about for months, they went Instagram official recently and it appears things are continuing to progress.
She is said to have moved in to 33-year-old Louis' mansion in London. It comes following her split from ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson late last year.
Insiders have now said that Zara has gradually relocated to the One Direction star’s property after spending increasing amounts of time there. "They’re smitten and she has been spending all of her time at his place, she’s pretty much moved in," the source said.
Speaking to the Sun, they continued: ""Zara has even started making her social media videos from there instead of her parents. She had been back at her family home after her split from her ex."
