The India-Pakistan dispute has escalated further in the Asia Cup. The BCCI has complained to the ICC about the provocative gestures made by Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan, while the PCB has also lodged an objection against Suryakumar Yadav.
Asia Cup 2025: The dispute between India and Pakistan continues unabated following the Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai. The matter has now reached the International Cricket Council (ICC). The BCCI has taken strict action against the Pakistani players, filing a complaint against them for their behavior.
BCCI complaint
The BCCI has filed an official complaint with the ICC against Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf and batsman Sahibzada Farhan, alleging that the two players made provocative and offensive gestures during the match.
During the match played on September 21st, Rauf gestured as if depicting a plane crashing. It is believed that he did this to mock the actions of the Indian Army. Furthermore, while bowling, he also hurled abuse at Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, to which both batsmen responded with their bats.
Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his half-century by firing his bat like a machine gun. He was heavily criticized on social media for this. Farhan himself later said, "It was just a momentary celebration, I don't care how people take it."
Now, Rauf and Farhan could face a hearing under the ICC Code of Conduct. If the allegations are proven, action is certain against both players.
PCB's counter complaint
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also filed a complaint with the ICC against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. The PCB states that Suryakumar Yadav's statement dedicating his team's victory to the Indian Army and the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack after the September 14th victory over Pakistan constitutes a "political statement." However, it remains to be seen whether the complaint will be filed within the time limit.
Controversial video
Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi further inflamed the situation. He shared a video of Cristiano Ronaldo celebrating a goal on social media. The video was presented as if he, too, was alluding to a plane crash.
