Shabbir Ahmed Khan Faces Backlash Over Ball-Tampering Claims Against Indian Bowlers

Former Pakistani fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed Khan, known for famously dismissing Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, is now under heavy criticism and abuse on social media. The controversy began after Shabbir alleged that Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna tampered with the ball during India’s recent historic victory in the Oval Test against England. He claimed that the bowlers used Vaseline to get extra movement from the ball, suggesting that the ball appeared unusually shiny and should be sent for laboratory analysis.

These serious accusations sparked outrage among cricket fans, many of whom have openly trolled Shabbir and questioned his mental state. Some have even mockingly suggested that he needs psychiatric evaluation, recalling Shabbir’s own past when his bowling action was found illegal, leading to a ban from international cricket. Despite his promising start—taking 51 wickets in 10 Test matches and key wickets in matches against India—his international career ended prematurely in 2005 due to this bowling action violation.

In 2024, Shabbir resigned from his role as coach of Dera Ghazi Khan, citing internal politics, nepotism, and favoritism within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as reasons for his departure.
