Have you ever felt as if your brain has shut down? Staring at the screen, reading the same line over and over again and still not understanding anything? We all have this experience at one time or another.
Have you ever felt as if your brain has shut down? Staring at the screen, reading the same line over and over again and still not understanding anything? We all have this experience at one time or another. The reason behind this could be poor sleep, increasing stress or just the fatigue of the day. But the good news is that there is a fast solution for this and that too in just 2 minutes.
Cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Holly Bowen of Southern Methodist University has shared this 'mental refresh' trick. She believes that when the brain feels tired and concentration starts breaking, then just a 2-minute walk can fill your brain with energy again.
Use this trick after lunch or when you are tired
Dr. Bowen says that she herself uses this trick when she feels drowsy after lunch or when the work pressure becomes too much. At such times, she goes for a light walk of 10-15 minutes.
Science also says that this method works.
According to research, a light walk increases the blood flow in the brain, due to which oxygen and nutrition reach the brain in a better way. This increases the ability to concentrate, sharpens the thinking power and also enhances creativity. Not only this, walking reduces the stress hormone cortisol and increases 'feel good' chemicals like dopamine and serotonin.
