In light of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor being stripped of his titles, Channel 4 have dealt yet another blow to the disgraced royal. The broadcasters have announced that they, too, will be stripping him of his title as Prince Andrew: The Musical will be changed to just Andrew: The Musical.
Seemingly making fun of the drama in the Palace, in a statement, the TV channel said: "Channel 4 has today initiated the formal process to remove the style, title and honours of Prince Andrew: The Musical. Prince Andrew: The Musical will now be known as Andrew: The Musical. The programme's lease on Channel 4 streaming has provided audiences with the opportunity to view this satirical comedy, depicting the well-documented and widely reported events in the life of a known British figure, now known simply as Andrew. Formal approval has been served to allow the lease to be extended, and to allow audiences to continue to watch this programme for a peppercorn rent. These censures are deemed necessary in light of recent news and announcements from The Palace."
The made-for-television biographical musical comedy film first aired on Channel 4 in 2022. It sees Kieran Hodgson lead a cast of comics in a satirical send-up of the life and times of Prince Andrew, set to a musical score from Kieran Hodgson and Freddie Tapner.
Written by and starring Hodgson as the prince himself, the storyline of the musical centres on the key events, relationships and controversies of Andrew's life, including a reimagining of the former-HRH's bombshell interview with Emily Maitlis, played by Emma Sidi.
The Channel 4 change comes as The Palace announced earlier this week that Andrew will be formally stripped of his royal style, titles, and honours and will move out of Royal Lodge.
The disgraced royal will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and he will soon relocate to a private property on the Sandringham Estate. His name has changed with immediate effect.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Thursday: "These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.
"Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
Andrew: The Musical is available to stream on Channel 4 now.
