Despite his habit, many viewers praised the player and his general knowledge. One person said, "Hart's a clever guy & it's fascinating to see how his brain processes data #UniversityChallenge."

Another also chimed in, " Genuinely feel for Hart. Very clever chap, but he's going to spontaneously combust before he's 30."

At the end of the quiz, Warwick defeated UCL to make their way through to the semi-final rounds. Warwick scored 220 points, whilst UCL only scored 125 points and it meant the end of the road for their team.

Amol sighed and said, "Oh, UCL, what a run you've had. It feels like you've been on TV every week since 2005. It's been such a pleasure getting to know you. Thank you so much for being such great sports. Warwick - anything over 200 is terrific at this stage. It was a really strong performance."

University Challenge resumes on Monday 14 April at 8:30pm on BBC Two.
