may not be back at Roland Garros anytime soon after . In a thrilling contest, the British player came through 7-6 6-3 4-6 1-6 7-5 in a clash that lasted almost four hours.
After fighting back from two sets down, Medvedev looked on course to complete the comeback when he got a vital break in the decider. The former world No.1 played three events on clay in the build-up to France. He reached the last eight in Madrid before losing to Casper Ruud in straight sets, but he failed to get that far at the Monte-Carlo Masters or Italian Open.
Ironically, though, it was in Rome on clay where Medvedev recorded his last tournament win. He beat Holger Rune in the tournament two years ago, but he has since endured a barren run and failed to land a title on the .
