Daria Kasatkina will take on a very familiar face in the next round of the French Open as she takes on No. 6 seed . The pair have only met once before on the tour, but Andreeva is a regular guest in Kasatkina's vlogs as she chronicles her life on tour alongside her girlfriend, competitive figure skater Natalia Zabiiako.
After setting up their second showdown, and their first at a Grand Slam tournament, Kasatkina joked: "I hate her" and doubled down on her sentiment when she was informed of what Andreeva had been saying about her.
The 18-year-old joked that Kasatkina could improve on her interviewing skills in her vlogs. "I was right. I hate her," Kasatkina laughed.
"Well, she is not the one to talk about it because actually she had opportunity to interview players in our Rome vlog, so she took the camera, and she went to talk with someone in the restaurant. It was terrible, okay.
"Also, the filming skills were not on point, so she needs to learn. I thought because also I saw, like, she I think bought the camera also, and she's now trying to film something."
After taking shots at Andreeva's attempts to record a video diary, the world No. 17 made it clear that both of their comments were in jest.
She continued: "Yeah, I wish her good luck, especially in editing. I want to see how she going to do that, but I mean, as you guys understood, this is the way we communicate with Mirra.
"You know, we're just giving little shit to each other all the time and just joking around. It has nothing to do with - it's just the way we communicate."
In fact, the pair are so close that they cooled down together after their respective matches on Saturday. Kasatkina added: "We are very good with each other.
"We were having ice bath together right now a couple of hours ago after the match. Yeah, but I think I have to improve my interviewing skills, so it's okay. I will work on it."
As for the match? "I have to run a lot. It's going to be long rallies," the 17th seed said.
"Mirra, she's not giving anything for free. You know, to get every point, I'll have to die on court. I'm ready for that. This is I'm working for."
Kasatkina beat Andreeva when they met in the final of the Ningbo Open at the end of last year. The teenager started crying in her runner-up speech, and Kasatkina rushed over to comfort her in heartwarming scenes.
