'I tried this one household item for the first time - I can't go back to life without it'

Drying clothes in the winter can be a nightmare. But as a tumble dryer is such an expensive solution, which I also didn't have space for, I began to look for another solution.

With autumn weather setting in, any hopes of drying washing on the line outside have now been dashed. I leave wet washing hanging for days on a regular clothes airer in my home. And after hoovering, dusting, tidying up and putting away, the last thing I want to be left with is a wall of chunky, clunky clothes airers drying mounds of clothes.

Even putting the heating on full blast won't always make your clothes dry faster if they're on a normal clothes airer. Left there for days, you can guarantee that just when you think "surely they're dry now...". Nope! They are not.

So, billed as a second choice after a tumble dryer, I tried a heated airer and wow! I have been missing out.

They're so good, I might even get my parents one for Christmas. My brother told me it would make a "boring" present, but perhaps my practicality has now started trumping the fear of being boring...

Heated airers will dry your washing in just a few hours and you can have your washing folded and put away by the end of the day. They're not expensive to run. You can fold them up and store them away easily and they'll even make your room warmer in the colder weather.

If you're thinking of getting one, there's a range of price points depending on how big you want it to be and whether you want it to come with a cover or not.

The one I invested in was around £100. While this may seem a bit steep, considering a regular clothes airer costs around £12, I think it's worth the splurge.

So the only question that remains is, will you be putting one of these on your Christmas list?
