A major ITV star who found fame on The X Factor has addressed whether or not they'd ever do Strictly Come Dancing. The hit BBC series is due to return to our screens next month, and the 2025 line-up has now been officially confirmed. With Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly returning as hosts, the new series includes the likes of Dani Dyer, Vicky Pattison, Chris Robshaw, Balvinder Sopal, Alex Kingston, and George Clarke. In recent news, Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn pulled out of the show last week due to "unexpected medical reasons." Producers were "extremely sorry" to have had to say goodbye to the 49-year-old star before the competition had begun.
One star, who has previously competed on the talent competition The X Factor, spoke exclusively to Express Online about his career and whether or not he'd take to the Strictly dancefloor.
Olly Murs, who was the runner-up of The X Factor in 2009, said: "Obviously I admire the show - it's a huge part of Saturday night TV - something I hope we never lose because we all love watching it, but I'm not sure my knees are up for it... Plus, it wouldn't be a fair competition with my Dad's moves!"
Speaking about the toughest moment of his career, he remarked: "Losing my voice during my big tour this year - having to cancel a few shows, it broke my heart. You never want to let fans down, but it taught me to look after myself better, and sometimes you've got to listen to your body and your health. I'm forever sorry for letting them down, and I will make it up to them."
The X Factor ended in 2018, but does Olly want to see the show make a comeback? He replied: "I think it had its time and it gave a lot of us amazing opportunities.
"If it came back in the right way, I'd be curious to see it, but I think the music industry has changed a lot since then. So, the show would need to make changes, but keep some of what made it so successful. If it does, I hope Simon makes the call; it would be an honour to be involved in some shape or form."
Olly has recently become the face of M&S' Parent Hood Loyalty scheme, one of the fastest-growing 'baby clubs' in the UK. He and his wife Amelia are parents to 16-month-old Madison and are expecting their second child next month.
