King Charles and Queen Camilla viewed some impressive 2-ft high sculptures in Kew Gardens, which formed part of London's city-wide Easter egg hunt for the Elephant Family, as they attended the charity's ''Wonders of the Wild' event to celebrate art and conservation this evening. Walking down an avenue lined with over 30 egg sculptures on Tuesday, the King and Queen marvelled at the beautifully decorated pieces, which were positioned at London landmarks as part of a free public art trail to raise awareness and funds for Asian wildlife conservation.
One of the eggs, the 'Green Man Dumpty Humpty Egg' created by Royal Drawing School alumna, Alice Shirely, was placed outside The King's Gallery, and the Queen met the artist and viewed the egg last month.
Arriving at the Temperate House, the and met some of the charity's supporters, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Gok Wan, who will be performing later in the evening, and eight-year-old Matilde Rodrigues, who was one of the first people to complete the art trail by collecting all 123 eggs via the specially designed Elephant Family app.
The King presented the Mark Shand Award while the Queen presented the Tara Award, named after an elephant, befriended by her brother.
Mark, who died in 2014, founded the organisation to protect the endangered Asian Elephant.
The Wonders of the Wild event this evening was the grand finale of the charity's Big Egg Hunt, which was delivered in partnership with Clarence Court.
The campaign featured more than 120 giant egg sculptures designed by leading names from fashion, art and design. They were displayed across London as part of a free art trail in iconic locations including Buckingham Palace, Battersea Power Station and the Royal Albert Hall.
Stepping out at the soirée this evening, Camilla, 77, looked effortlessly elegant in a pale cream three quarter-length tunic and trousers.
The King, 76, donned a navy suit - paired with a navy tie boasting an elephant print.
Following the couple's departure, a live auction featured some of the eggs on display.
