As temperatures fall and nights draw longer, there's something especially comforting about the flicker of a fire. For those without a traditional fireplace - or anyone looking for that same cosy ambience without the hassle - an electric stove offers a stylish and practical way to keep chills at bay.
Currently, shoppers looking for a little more warmth this winter can get the HOMCOM electric stove heater with LED flame effect from Yimbly for £61.99. Yimbly is an online marketplace owned by the Daily Express's parent company, Reach Plc.
This artificial stove features a realistic wood burning flame effect that mimics the inviting flicker and glow of real firelight, complete with a front-opening door and charcoal display for a more authentic look. Constructed from cast metal, plastic, and tempered glass, it's available in white or black to suit a range of interiors.
The HOMCOM electric heater has two heating modes of 1,000W and 2,000W, with a thermostat for automatic shut-off once the space is at temperature. For added realism, the controls are hidden behind the electric stove's door.
With rising energy prices, electric heaters can be a cost-effective way to heat a room. At its maximum 2kW setting, the HOMCOM electric stove heater costs around 53p an hour to run, based on the current Ofgem price cap of 26.35p per kWh.
The brand says the heater is suitable for 25 to 30 square metres. It also has overheat protection to prevent it from getting too hot.
Another option is the Warmlite 2kW Mable stove fireplace from Dunelm, which costs £59. This compact electric stove features a classic design with a large front window to display its eye-catching flame effect.
For those with a bigger budget, Argos sells the Beldray Teresina 2kW electric freestanding mini stove for £90. It has a slightly more ornate design, offers two heat settings, and its flame effect can be used independently of heat.
The HOMCOM electric stove has received solid reviews from buyers, with one writing: "Really good quality, sturdy." Others left reviews on Amazon, where the heater is also available, with one commenting: "Nice fire, I like the settings and my dog loves warming his bum by it. Excellent value for money and like the colour."
Another chimed in: "This is a lovely piece of furniture, looks beautiful. Very pleased I ordered this."
One did note the build quality, leaving four stars. They wrote: "Bought for £55. It's a great little unit which warms up the room really quickly. Lovely moving flames. It is a plastic surround though, so I would pay more than what I did."
Yimbly itself also has a strong 4.3 out of five rating on Trustpilot, from more than 1,800 reviews, although some customers have had issues with delivery. One noted: "Missing item of multiple delivery, but redeemed by later successful efforts to find and deliver the item. Good communication to solve the problem."
