Rugby fans charged outrageous ticket price to watch Lions squad announcement in person

Rugby fans will be forced to shell out expensive ticket prices to watch next week's squad announcement in person. The travelling contingent will be revealed in front of thousands of supporters at Indigo, situated within the complex. The captain will also be announced with head coach hoping to lead the Lions to glory in Australia this summer.

Lions Rugby Club members were given priority access to buy tickets for the event when they were released earlier this month. A ballot was held for the remaining tickets, but many are still available to purchase from official ticketing partner AXS. The steep prices mean that fans will need to loosen their purse strings in order to secure their seats.

Seated floor tickets for the Lions squad announcement are priced at a whopping £53.59 , over twice the cost of the cheapest tickets to watch England play Six Nations champions France at Twickenham in June.

Tickets for the announcement come with several additional costs, including a £2.50 transaction fee per purchase. Each ticket also comes with a £2.50 facility fee and £6.60 booking fee, applied to every individual ticket as opposed to every transaction.

It means the grand total for one seated floor ticket is £65.19, while two tickets would cost an eye-watering £127.88 with the facility and booking fees doubled.

Floor tickets in the Golden Circle are listed for sale at £59.10, while remaining balcony tickets can be purchased from £42.40. Those prices would be subject to further increases when the additional fees mentioned are taken into account.

There is room for over 2,000 fans at the Indigo but with scores of tickets still available, there is seemingly a chance that many will go unsold.

Next week's squad announcement will be shown live on Sky Sports and will feature special guests, alongside live reaction from Premiership Rugby and United Rugby Championship stars.
