Even as the warmer summer months roll on, drying laundry efficiently remains a challenge for many, especially for those living in flats, dealing with unpredictable weather, or lacking outdoor space. But a cleaning expert has revealed a little-known washing machine tip that could drastically cut down drying time, whatever the season.
Nicola Lewis, a decluttering and organisation expert known as @thisgirlcanorganise to her nearly 200,000 Instagram followers, has gone viral for sharing a clever trick she swears by, using your washing machine's spin cycle twice.

Dubbed the "Double Spin for the Win" method, Nicola's advice is simple. Once your laundry load finishes, don't rush to hang it up. Instead, run an additional spin cycle.
This second spin won't add water, it simply removes even more moisture from your clothes, meaning they come out significantly drier and therefore take less time to air-dry.
"Double spin your laundry!" she wrote in the caption of her video.
"Your clothes will come out much drier, allowing them to dry quicker. Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases."
Though the tip was originally shared for winter, Nicola points out that it's just as useful in summer, particularly during rainy days or for households that air-dry laundry indoors all year round. It can also reduce the time needed for tumble drying, saving on energy bills.
If you're drying your clothes indoors, Nicole advises positioning the airer near sunlight and open windows for ventilation.
For quicker results, use a dehumidifier or even a simple fan to boost airflow and acts as a budget-friendly way to prevent damp and accelerate drying without switching on the heating.
So if you don't have a tumble dryer, fret not as there are still nifty hacks to get your clothes nice and dry without taking up days.
