Jennifer Aniston is a Hollywood diva who has proved her mettle in the industry with her diverse roles and stunning acting chops. When it comes to her on-screen life, almost nothing seems impossible. There’s hardly anything that would give the actress a sleepless night. However, when it comes to her real life, just like most of us, Jennifer also has a list of things that she is scared of. One of the fears that tops her list is aerophobia, or the fear of flying.

How is Jennifer Aniston treating her Aerophobia?
“I have an extreme fear of flying. But I have been doing some hypnosis lately, and one of the requirements is to remove all of those superstitions," Jennifer told Travel+Leisure magazine.

In addition to eliminating all superstitions, Aniston is concentrating on breathwork, getting up from her seat after a while, walking a bit during her flights, and doing a few stretches to keep her mind engaged during the lengthy hours. “Plugging into a good meditation can get you through," the actress stated.

Her fans are elated to know that the actress is doing all things possible to get her fear in control, but they are also curious to know what this fear is all about.

What Is Aerophobia?
Aerophobia is an excessive and irrational fear that can lead to feelings of anxiety or panic when flying, boarding an airplane, being in an airport, or even just thinking about flying, reports Trauma Research UK.

In many of the cases, the effects of aerophobia can be mitigated to an extent by avoidance behaviour when faced with situations involving air travel. However, in some cases, experts advise proper medical treatment.

What Are The Symptoms Of Aerophobia?Since it is a condition that makes a person get into a state of irrational and excessive fear, anxiety, and rapid increase in the heart rate are the topmost common symptoms. In addition to this, a person suffering from aerophobia, when faced with his fear, is expected to feel nauseous, experience heavy sweating, and trembling.

What Are The Causes Of Aerophobia?
According to another report by Anxiety UK, past trauma from facing turbulence while travelling on a plane can trigger the fear. Further, it is not necessary that the fear would come because of one’s own experience. Even if a person sees a loved one going through something similar or hears them discussing a traumatic event based on the same phobia, he or she can be affected.

Other causes include anxiety disorders like claustrophobia, and post-traumatic stress disorders can lead to aerophobia.

Treatments of Aerophobia
There are several effective techniques to manage fear of flying, also known as aerophobia. Mindfulness and deep breathing can help reduce anxiety, while exposure therapy gradually introduces individuals to flying scenarios in a controlled environment, which can alleviate symptoms. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is another useful approach, as it helps individuals recognize and change negative thoughts and behaviors associated with their fear. In some cases, doctors may prescribe anti-anxiety medications, but these should only be used under medical supervision and for short periods.
