NEW DELHI: Around 140 flights were cancelled to and fro Delhi airport on Wednesday after India carried out strikes on terror targets in Pakistan.
Both domestic and international airlines were affected.
The disruptions included 65 incoming and 66 outgoing domestic flights, news agency PTI said quoting sources.
Additionally, two international arrivals and two international departures were cancelled during the day. Since midnight, four international departures, including an American Airlines flight, were cancelled.
"Due to changing airspace conditions some flights have been impacted. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates and alternate travel arrangements," Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said in a post on X.
"We are working closely with airlines and Air Traffic Control (ATC) to minimise any disruptions to flight schedules," it added.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), operated by DIAL, typically manages about 1,300 flights each day.
The Indian armed forces executed Operation Sindoor early Wednesday, targeting nine terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
This action was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The strikes included key locations like the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba base in Muridke.
