A Perth woman was shocked after she found her doctor using ChatGPT to treat her. She shared her experience on Reddit, saying she had gone to the appointment for test results but was shocked when the doctor copied her information into the AI tool for advice.
"I've never felt like I was sitting in front of such an incompetent doctor before," she wrote. "It feels lazy and unprofessional."
She explained that the doctor entered her blood test details and age into ChatGPT, which then provided recommendations. While she acknowledged that doctors sometimes use Google or medical websites, she felt this crossed a line.
"I don't think I'll be going back," she added, asking others if they had similar experiences.
The woman has reported the incident to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and plans to escalate her complaint to the Health and Disability Services Complaints Office .
Her post has sparked online debate, with some expressing concerns over AI use in healthcare and others seeing it as a useful tool for doctors.
