US vice president J D Vance hit out at Democrats on Monday after they released a copy of Jeffrey Epstein’s “birthday book” which allegedly included a note signed by Donald Trump .
Vance backed Trump in a post on X, saying "The Democrats don't care about Epstein. They don’t even care about his victims. That's why they were silent about it for years. The only thing they care about is concocting another fake scandal like Russiagate to smear president Trump with lies. No one is falling for this," he wrote.
The house oversight committee on Monday published documents from Epstein’s files, including his will, an address book, and a birthday collection. The material contained a sketch of a nude woman with a short exchange between “Donald” and “Jeffrey.” It ended with the line, “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday, and may every day be another wonderful secret.” Trump’s name appeared at the bottom.
The White House rejected the note as fake. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the story was “false” and accused Democrats of spreading “fake news” about the US president. Trump has denied writing the message, even filing a $10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal after it first reported on the note.
Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking minors, was socially acquainted with Trump in the 1990s.
